Nigerians are in for tougher times, following the price increase of petrol to N855
per litre by filling stations belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation Limited in Lagos.

The price adjustment comes amid the ongoing fuel scarcity rocking the country,
and days after the NNPC admitted that its capacity to supply petrol to local
marketers is threatened by its debt obligations to international oil traders.  
As at yesterday morning, some NNPC retail stations in Lagos sold fuel between
N865 to N897 per litre from N568 per liter.  

Checks by our correspondent shows that the move has also pushed private-owed
filling stations to hike the pump price of the essential commodity.
