We begin with Basketball, where Nigeria’s basketball team, D’Tigers have withdrawn from the 2025 Afrobasket qualifiers.

The qualifiers is billed to commence on Friday and the D’Tigers had been drawn in Group B, where they would have contested against Cape Verde, Uganda and Libya for a place at next year’s Afrobasket tournament.

D’Tigers made the announcement to withdraw on Wednesday evening after it complained of not getting funding from the Federal Government.

Recall that in 2022, former President, Muhammadu Buhari, approved the withdrawal of Nigeria from international basketball competitions for two years, following the leadership crisis at the Nigeria Basketball Federation that has dogged and crippled the development of basketball in the country.
