Four Nigerian stars have been named in CIES Football Observatory’s 2024/25 list of the world’s 300 most influential players, based on statistical performance.

Alex Iwobi leads with an index score of 87.4, ranking 37th globally and 12th among wingers. His balanced scoring and off-ball work powered Fulham to wins over top Premier League teams.

Ademola Lookman, ranked 48th overall, had a standout season at Atalanta with 15 league goals, 5 assists, and a Europa League final hat-trick. His creativity and finishing drew interest from major EPL clubs.

Victor Osimhen ranks 159th. Despite a limited league sample, his record 37-goal haul at Galatasaray and world-class finishing (score: 86) cemented his status.

Calvin Bassey, ranked 257th, impressed as Fulham’s defensive anchor with strong aerial and passing stats, attracting interest from Barcelona.

CIES evaluated players across six performance metrics including distribution, finishing, and chance creation. Mohamed Salah topped the global list.
