According to Megan Thee Stallion, it never occurred to her that people would not believe the claims she made against Tory Lanez. In a recent Elle interview, she discussed the guilty verdict in Tory Lanez’s case. She claims that the lengthy conversation will be her final public statement on the subject.
“It never crossed my mind that people wouldn’t believe me,” Megan said. “For years, my attacker tried to leverage social media to take away my power. Imagine how it feels to be called a liar every day?”
Tory Lanez was ultimately convicted guilty of shooting Megan in the summer of 2020. He was found guilty of three felonies and could spend up to 20 years in jail.
“Still, I knew the truth and the indisputable facts would prevail,” Megan added. “I had worked way too hard to reach this point in my career to let taunts deter me. When the guilty verdict came on Dec. 23, 2022, it was more than just vindication for me, it was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them.”
However, Tory Lanez filed a motion asking for a new trial, claiming that jurors were “erroneously allowed” to view an Instagram comment. According to reports, Lanez said in the comment that Kelsey Harris, a former acquaintance of Megan, was not the shooter.
