Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu remains confident of the team’s chances at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament scheduled to begin in Morocco this weekend, but insists that the squad must improve in all areas.
The nine-time continental champions wrapped up their preparations for the biennial showpiece by defeating fellow West African neighbours, the Black Queens of Ghana 3-1 in a friendly encounter played at the Ziaida Palace Benslimane field in Casablanca on Sunday, with goals coming from Chinwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala and skipper Rasheedat Ajibade which secured the win.
Ahead of Nigeria’s opening fixture against Tunisia on July 6, Madugu believes the friendly win over Ghana would be beneficial for the team and will put the side in the best possible shape to start the tournament well. Recall the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations was officially rescheduled to 2025.
