King Charles of England has been diagnosed with a form of cancer.

Buckingham Palace clarified that it is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but according to a palace statement, the King began “regular treatments” on Monday.

Buckingham Palace says the 75-year-old King would continue carrying out other official duties including his weekly meetings with the Prime Minister, and his usual daily paperwork, adding that there are no plans to appoint Counselors-of-State to act in his place – a move that could only signal the King’s inability to carry out his duties due to illness.

Our Correspondent Immanuel Odeyemi quotes palace officials as saying that King Charles has since returned to London from his country residence in Sandringham to begin cancer treatment as an out-patient.
