Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has been given a two-year ban for ‘attempted fraud’ in a doping case in Brazil.

Gabigol was found guilty of attempting to manipulate the doping test at the Flamengo training camp on April 8, 2023.

The 27-year-old made the much-publicised transfer from Santos to Inter in the summer of 2016 for €29.5m. He was part of the Brazil squad that won gold in the football event of the Rio 2016 Olympic games.

The ban will run till April 2025, as it runs for two years from the date of the incident.
