The Federal Government has filed a criminal case against politician and activist Omoyele Sowore over allegations of cyberbullying President Bola Tinubu on social media.

The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, names social media firms, Meta and X as co-defendants. The five-count charge, brought by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mohammed Abubakar, accuses Sowore of making false and defamatory statements about President Tinubu.

Sowore allegedly called the president “a criminal” in a social media post, a claim the government says is false and intended to incite disorder.

This legal move follows a recent request by the Department of State Services for Meta and X to remove Sowore’s posts.
