Doechii’s unique beauty style has gotten people talking, especially her use of visible face tape. The rapper first made headlines in 2024 when she posted a TikTok explaining that the tape was a deliberate part of her aesthetic, saying, “The face tapes are there on purpose because… it’s c—.”

She wore face tape again during her performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, where she won her first Grammy for Best Rap Album. Despite the online reaction, face tape isn’t a new concept in the beauty world.
According to Dr. Rukmini Rednam, a board-certified plastic surgeon, cosmetic face tape has been used for years as a temporary lift for the skin or to alter the angles of the face, usually kept discreet. However, Doechii’s choice to leave the tape visible reflects a shift in how cosmetic procedures and beauty trends are perceived.
Dr. Rednam believes that celebrities like Doechii, who embrace transparency about their beauty choices, help normalize such practices. “In the past, people kept cosmetic changes private, fearing judgment. Now, celebrities are more open, and Doechii seems confident in sharing her beauty secrets without shame,” she said.
