Diddy’s Legal Team Challenges Coercion Claims in Ongoing Trial
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ defense team cross-examined his former partner, known as “Jane,” aiming to frame their past sexual encounters as consensual. Jane, testifying for a fifth day, said she felt pressured to comply, fearing rejection. “I was going along with something I didn’t feel I could say no to,” she told the court.
Despite past messages expressing love for Combs, Jane now says she resents him. She also claimed a $40,000 relocation payment from Combs in 2023 was used to maintain control.
Defense attorney Teny Geragos read affectionate texts from Jane and questioned her about attending a “sobriety party” involving escorts. Jane admitted she agreed but insisted emotional manipulation was involved. “I couldn’t say no to him,” she repeated.
She also described being heartbroken after Combs took another woman on a luxury trip shortly after allegedly coercing her on her birthday. Lavish gifts and hotel-based encounters were, she said, tied to her efforts to stay close to him.
The court also addressed concerns over a juror’s honesty, while the defense warned of potential racial bias in the challenge.
Combs, 55, faces charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors expect to rest their case by June 20.
