Businessman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, has joined former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha in calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Cubana Chief Priest shared a video of Okorocha’s tribute to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, where the former governor urged the Nigerian government to free Kanu as the “best way” to honour Ubah.

Highlighting the impact of Kanu’s detention on the Southeastern region, Cubana Chief Priest tagged Senate President Godswill Akpabio in his post, writing, “Let Ohamadike Ndi Igbo, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, come back home soon.” He emphasized that Kanu’s release is crucial for restoring peace, unity, and stability in the region, which has faced challenges since Kanu’s detention in June 2021.

“It’s been almost five years now; we still cannot access our hometown. Only his release can restore peace to our region,” he wrote, noting the loss of lives and properties in the Southeast.

Okorocha also appealed to Akpabio to convey the Igbos’ plea to the government. Since Kanu’s detention, groups like Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and his supporters have consistently advocated for his release.
