The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a lawsuit seeking to legalize prostitution in Nigeria.
The suit, filed by a rights group on behalf of sex workers, asked the court to stop the FCT Minister and agencies from arresting or prosecuting them.
Justice James Omotosho dismissed the case, calling prostitution immoral and alien to Nigerian culture. He ruled that sex workers have no constitutional right to protection under Nigerian law and upheld their arrest as legal under the Penal Code.
