Ayo Edebiri wins Best Actress in a Comedy at 2024 Critics Choice Awards

The Nigerian-American actress, writer, and stand-up comedian, Ayo Edebiri, persist as she clinched the Best Actress in a Comedy Series award at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. This recognition is attributed to her role as Sydney Adamu in the Hulu series “The Bear.”

In her acceptance speech, Ayo Edebiri expressed her gratitude upon receiving the award. “Thank you so much to the critics for this,” she remarked.

he extended her appreciation to the cast, crew, and writers of the show, which delves into the intricacies of a corner sandwich joint transforming its kitchen operations to mirror the Michelin star standards of the elite New York culinary world.

Ayo Edebiri continued her expressions of gratitude by thanking her family in Barbados, Nigeria, and humorously mentioning “Ireland in many ways.”

The nod to Ireland follows an incident where she was mistakenly thought to be Irish after an interview in which she playfully used an Irish accent while discussing her potential role as “Jenny the Donkey” in the movie “The Banshees of Inisherin.

Although she didn’t end up starring in the film, the incident led to a mischaracterization. Earlier this month, she also secured the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for the same role at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
