The National President of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed this yesterday to newsmen at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, to intimate the public with the outcome of the union’s National Executive Council meeting held between August 17 and August 18 at the University of Ibadan.
Osodeke said ASUU has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal and State Governments to address all the “outstanding issues” hindering the development of the nation’s universities, which includes “emergency revitalisation fund of public universities; payment of outstanding earned academic allowances; and release of withheld salaries, promotion arrears, and third-party deductions of our members.”
He added that the union would reconvene at the expiration of the 21 days’ notice to take appropriate decision(s) as deemed necessary.
