Zendaya and Tom Holland, the Spider-Man costars turned real-life couple, are officially engaged, PEOPLE confirms. According to a family source, Holland proposed over the holidays at one of Zendaya’s family homes.

“Everyone close to them knew an engagement was happening — just not when,” a source revealed. “He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special.”

The couple, both 28, plans to take their time before tying the knot. “They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” the source added.

Fans began speculating after Zendaya appeared at the 2025 Golden Globes wearing a diamond ring. The piece is a 5.02-carat East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from Jessica McCormack, listed in the brand’s engagement section.

Holland previously hinted at his “secret” holiday plans with Zendaya during a podcast appearance, sharing, “I’ll be with my girlfriend’s family, which will be fun.”

The pair, who portrayed Peter Parker and MJ in the Spider-Man films, sparked dating rumors in 2021 after being spotted kissing. Holland later said in a GQ interview, “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore… This isn’t my story. It’s our story.”

Despite public scrutiny, the couple has remained protective of their relationship. Holland shared in 2023, “Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible.” Zendaya echoed this sentiment, telling Elle, “It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist.”
