Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to cover all medical expenses for the victims of Wednesday’s accident near Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway.
Wike in a statement yesterday, described the accident as “avoidable” but directed continued treatment for the injured, and condoled with families of those who died, while emphasizing the need for stricter adherence to traffic regulations, particularly by heavy-duty vehicle drivers.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier ordered an investigation into the incident, and instructed that the injured be given priority treatment at various medical facilities, while directing security agencies, particularly those responsible for road safety, to pay closer attention to traffic around the city’s entry and exit points.
