Real Madrid will be without forward Vinicius Junior and defender Lucas Vazquez for the remainder of their La Liga campaign due to injuries.
The club confirmed on Monday that Vinicius has sustained an ankle sprain, while Vazquez is dealing with a thigh issue. According to reports from Spanish outlets, both players may remain sidelined until the Club World Cup.
Madrid’s hopes of securing silverware this season were effectively dashed following their defeat to league leaders Barcelona on Sunday, which left them seven points adrift with just three games left.
They are scheduled to face Mallorca at home on Wednesday, travel to Sevilla on May 18, and host Real Sociedad on May 25 in what will mark Carlo Ancelotti’s final match in charge.
On the same day, the Brazilian football federation announced that Ancelotti will assume the role of head coach for Brazil’s national team after the season concludes.
