Controversial social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), staged an unusual protest on Monday at the gate of the FCT Minister’s residence in Abuja. His action was in response to the ongoing strike by primary school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory, which has now lasted over 90 days.
The strike, which began on March 24, 2025, stems from the failure of Area Council Chairmen to implement the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 for teachers.
To draw attention to the issue, VeryDarkMan brought a group of uniformed schoolchildren to the Minister’s gate, where he held an improvised classroom session, teaching them the alphabet in a satirical style. For example, he recited, “S for Suegbe, T for Tinubu, W for Wike,” with the children repeating after him.
When approached by reporters, VDM declined to comment, stating only that the Minister’s gate would now serve as a classroom until the strike is resolved. As of the time of this report, the children were seen taking a lunch break, eating rice and chicken provided by VDM and his supporters.
