U.S. President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine will begin immediate negotiations toward a ceasefire following a two-hour call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump described the talks as “very well,” though no timeline was set.
Putin confirmed willingness to discuss a future peace agreement but did not commit to a ceasefire.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the initiative but insisted the U.S. and Europe stay involved. He reaffirmed Ukraine’s demand for a full, unconditional ceasefire, warning that without progress, stronger sanctions on Russia are needed.
