Trump Defends Policies in First Congressional Address

President Donald Trump delivered his first address to Congress since reclaiming office, using the speech to defend his policy decisions within his first 43 days.

He justified halting military aid to Ukraine and imposing 25% tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. On Ukraine, Trump revealed he had received a letter from President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing readiness for peace talks.

Domestically, Trump pledged “tax cuts for everybody” and vowed to balance the federal budget. He also highlighted his administration’s actions on social policies, including eliminating diversity initiatives and restricting transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.
