Trump Announces New Tariffs on 100 Countries Starting April 5

United States Donald Trump has announced a sweeping new set of reciprocal tariffs, arguing that they would allow his country to succeed.

In a background call before Trump’s speech, a senior White House official told reporters that the president would impose “baseline tariffs” on all countries, set at 10% and will go into effect on 5 April.

This he imposed via executive order, are expected to send economic shockwaves around the world, as it affects a list of roughly 100 countries.

White House officials also said they would impose specific reciprocal tariffs on roughly 60 “worst offenders”, who charge higher tariffs on US goods, to go into effect on April 9.
