Grammy-winning artist Tems has launched the Leading Vibe Initiative, a new platform aimed at empowering and elevating women across Africa’s music industry, starting with Lagos.

Known for her captivating voice and hits like “Love Me Jeje,” Tems is now extending her influence beyond music by creating opportunities for women not only as singers but also as songwriters, producers, and sound engineers.

Sharing the news on social media, Tems explained that the initiative stems from her own self-taught journey in the music world, built without formal guidance or connections. Leading Vibe is designed to support and amplify African women who are breaking barriers and leading the future of the music industry.

The first program will take place in Lagos, Tems’ hometown, on August 8–9. It will offer Nigerian women aged 18 to 35 an immersive experience featuring workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions led by industry experts. Participants will receive practical training, access to professional resources, and opportunities to network in a space crafted to empower the next generation of female music professionals.

For Tems, this effort is personal. She highlighted the limited space for women in roles such as writers, engineers, and producers despite Nigeria’s booming music scene.

Leading Vibe is dedicated to those who dare to be different and dream of being heard. The initiative plans to expand beyond Lagos, with future programs across Africa to foster a continent-wide community of women creators.
