Super Eagles Record Yet Another Disappointing Draw In 2026 World Cup Qualifier

The Super Eagles of Nigeria recorded a second consecutive draw in their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after struggling to hold the Warriors of Zimbabwe to a 1-1 draw on Sunday in Rwanda.

Nigeria had laboured to a 1-1 draw against the Crocodiles of Lesotho on home soil on Day 1 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo last Thursday.

The result from yesterday’s crucial matchday 2 Group C encounter meant South Africa, with three points, remained top of the Group C six-nation table in spite of having played only one game.

Nigeria and Zimbabwe are now second and third, respectively, with two points from two games played.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume in June 2024, with Nigeria hosting South Africa before traveling to an away game against Benin Republic.
