Speed Darlington Arrested Again During Owerri Show

Entertainment

November 27, 2024

Nigerian musician Speed Darlington, also known as AKPI, has been arrested by the police in Owerri, Imo State, during a performance. His lawyer, human rights advocate Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

The reason for the latest arrest remains unclear, but it comes barely two months after Speed Darlington’s previous detention in October. That incident stemmed from a controversial video where he allegedly mocked fellow artist Burna Boy, linking him to American rapper Diddy’s legal troubles.

Following his October arrest, Speed Darlington accused the police of violating his civil rights by detaining him for four days without access to his lawyer or family, exceeding the legal two-day detention limit.

Fans and observers have expressed shock at the latest arrest, believing that the singer had resolved his disputes. However, this development suggests lingering legal and personal issues still require resolution.
