Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), in partnership with the US FBI and Justice Department, has seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., known as Shatta Wale.
The seizure followed a 2023 US request and was carried out at Shatta Wale’s residence in Accra’s Trassaco Valley Phase 1.
EOCO’s acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, said the car is linked to proceeds from Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is serving an 86-month sentence in the US for financial crimes and owes $4.74 million in restitution.
Shatta Wale voluntarily surrendered the vehicle to avoid public attention, as it is a significant part of his brand.
SARU officers, who were armed for safety, conducted the search and seizure without incident.
EOCO said the Lamborghini will be repatriated to the US, and both Shatta Wale and a former National Signal Bureau officer are persons of interest who will be invited to assist in ongoing investigations.
The agency may also share its final report with US authorities as part of continued cooperation.
