Sadiq has Been Ruled Out of AFCON 2023 Due to an Injury

Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq has been ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

The 26-year-old Sadiq who is now the third Super Eagles player to be ruled out of the competition, sustained a knee injury in the Super Eagles friendly against Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday.

He is now expected to return to his Spanish club, Real Sociedad for treatment and will be sidelined for around three weeks.

Earlier sidelines teammates, Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface has been replaced with Alhassan Yusuf and Terem Moffi.

Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen is now the only fit striker available for Nigeria’s opening game Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has named Trabzonspor’s Paul Onuachu as a replacement for injured Real Sociedad forward Sadiq Umar, who has been ruled out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
