England winger Marcus Rashford has expressed his delight at playing for Barcelona, hinting at a desire to make his stay permanent as the club holds a £28 million option to buy him from Manchester United — a discounted fee compared to the £40 million the Premier League side would demand from other buyers.

Despite being under contract at Old Trafford until 2028, Rashford’s future with United looks bleak under current manager Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old joined Barcelona on loan and has quickly settled into life in Spain.

“I’m enjoying this football club, and for anyone who loves football, Barcelona is one of the most historic teams in the game. For a player, it’s an honour,” Rashford told ESPN. When asked if he wanted to stay, he replied, “For sure.”

Rashford previously spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he rediscovered his form under Unai Emery. Since joining Barcelona, he has scored five goals in 12 matches, including a brace against Olympiakos in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Ahead of his first El Clásico against Real Madrid this weekend, Rashford reflected on his journey, saying, “People forget that 23 years of my life were spent at Manchester United. Sometimes, you just need a change — and maybe that’s what I needed. I’m enjoying everything here.”

Barcelona are reportedly considering triggering the purchase clause if Rashford maintains his form throughout the season.
