Nigeria is ranked third in an elite league of female runners in the world.

Nigeria is jointly ranked third with Bahamas, having Seven sub-11s runners behind USA (62) and Jamaica (23), thus outranking the European countries.

Also, this means Nigeria is the hub of the highest, fastest female 100m sprinters produced in African history and the third-highest in the world, having dominated the continent for several decades.

Topping this elite league with the National Record is Blessing Okagbare (10.79s), followed by Glory Alozie (10.90s), Favour Ofili (10.93s), Mary Onyali (10.97s), Grace Nwokocha (10.97s), Damola Osayomi (10.99s), and Rosemary Chukwuma (10.99s).

Only about 142 women from 28 countries have broken the 11-second barrier to date.
