The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is planning to quit his job.

NFF’s Media Director, Ademola Olajire, has denied these claims, calling the story reportedly due to uncertainty over his long-term position, as “the biggest joke of the year”.

Chelle, who was appointed in January on a two-year deal, has been working to qualify Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and is focused on reshaping his squad and securing crucial wins against Rwanda and South Africa.

The Super Eagles are currently trailing South Africa by six points in Group C, making their upcoming fixtures crucial for their World Cup qualification hopes.
