Three months after celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary, 50-year-old rapper Nelly shared why he chose to marry R&B singer Ashanti, 44, right after discovering she was pregnant.
During an appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Nelly admitted that marriage hadn’t been part of the conversation before they found out the big news. However, witnessing the positive growth in their relationship, he knew it was the right move.
“I just thought, ‘Let’s do this now because everything is moving so fast,’” Nelly explained. “I didn’t want her to be a baby mama. We knew where we were in life, and if we’re back in this place, it’s meant to be.”
