Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry was absent from the Miss Universe competition on Nov. 20, one day after being hospitalized for injuries sustained when she fell off the stage during the preliminary evening gown round. Videos show the 28-year-old slipping off a step while walking in an orange gown and heels and later being taken out on a stretcher.
Miss Universe owner Raul Rocha confirmed she has no broken bones and is receiving proper care. The Miss Universe Jamaica organization added that Henry was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand, where doctors say her injuries are not life-threatening but further tests are underway.
Her accident comes amid other turbulence for the pageant, including multiple judges resigning this week over alleged issues with the selection process.
