The Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN), says it has commenced “infringement action” at the Federal High Court against “unrepentant users” of unauthorized musical works in the broadcasting and hospitality industries.

MCSN President, King Sunny Ade, at a press conference held in Ikeja, Lagos, said a claim of 29 billion naira has been filed against Multi Choice Nigeria at the Federal High Court.

Represented by the Chairman of the MCSN Board, Mr. Orits Williki, the MCSN also revealed taking legal action against Hotels, Banks, Eateries and Bars; one of which is the Transcorp Hotel against which the MCSN is making a claim of over 2.8 billion naira.

Orits Wiliki however said the MCSN is open to out of court settlement for amicable resolution.
