Mali junta has appointed Major General Abdoulaye Maiga as the new Prime Minister.
This comes a day after the junta sacked civilian premier, Choguel Maiga, following his criticism of the military leadership on transition to civilian rule.
The new Prime Minister had previously served as the government’s spokesman.
Mali, plagued by jihadist and separatist violence, has been under military rule since successive coups in 2020 and 2021.
