Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has addressed mixed reviews of Aníkúlápó: Rise of the Spectre season two, urging critics to watch the entire series before passing judgment.

He stressed that he creates films for intellectually inclined audiences, not for mass appeal, and said scholars and deep thinkers have praised the show’s layered storytelling.

Afolayan recalled that critics initially dismissed films like Irapada and The Figurine, yet those projects later earned awards and international recognition. He reaffirmed his commitment to making thoughtful films rather than chasing mainstream approval.
