Jessie J Gives Emotional Farewell Before Starting Breast Cancer Treatment
Pop star Jessie J has shared heartfelt reflections about her upcoming battle with breast cancer, revealing that her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15 would be her last before starting treatment.
Taking the stage at Wembley Stadium, the 37-year-old singer told the crowd of 75,000 that the concert held special meaning for her. “This is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer,” she said, expressing deep gratitude for her life, her career, her two-year-old son Sky, and her parents. Jessie shares Sky with her partner, Chanan Safir Colman, whom she has been with since 2021.
“My family, my band, my crew—we’re so lucky,” she said. “There’s so much joy, so much to live for, and so much still to do.”
After the performance, Jessie took to Instagram Stories to share a candid and emotional update from home. She described ending the night with dinner alongside close friends, followed by a quiet moment in her house, doing chores and reflecting while everyone slept.
“I’ve just showered and put on my thick Oilatum cream—I look like Mrs. Doubtfire,” she joked, referencing Robin Williams’ iconic character. Sitting in her son’s room, Jessie admitted to shedding both happy and anxious tears. “This boy. My whole heart. What a special day today was,” she wrote.
In a lighter moment, she joked that she hoped Sky wouldn’t wake up: “Because I will legit scare the s— out of him,” she wrote, adding a Mrs. Doubtfire GIF for humor.
Jessie also shared behind-the-scenes footage from the concert, calling it “one of my favourite shows I’ve ever done in 15 years of this beautiful, crazy life.”
The “Price Tag” singer first announced her diagnosis on June 3 via Instagram, revealing she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer before releasing her song No Secrets.
“I want to share this because I always have,” she explained. “I’ve always let my fans in. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early.’” She added that she’s been undergoing medical tests for some time and is now preparing for surgery as part of her treatment.
