The 44-year-old artist Jessica Simpson, recently shared her story during an interview with Fancy Hagood on the upcoming episode of Trailblazers Radio. She discussed her frustrations with the music industry, particularly after being dropped from her record label following the success of her 2008 country album, Do You Know.

“I took a long break,” Jessica revealed. “I was frustrated with music. After releasing a number-one country album, I was let go, and I couldn’t understand why. They claimed I wouldn’t be profitable unless I gave them part of my brand, but my brand was already doing well.”

The artist also shared how others discouraged her from continuing her music career. “They told me not to pursue it. They thought it would damage my career, just like they assumed reality TV would—and it didn’t.”

Despite the challenges, she emphasized that her goal was always to connect with her audience. “What matters to me is that people see me as relatable. I want fans to think, ‘I’m just like her,’ rather than aspiring to be like me. That mindset really works for me.
