Jay-Z has taken legal action against attorney Tony Buzbee, David Fortney, and their client, identified as Jane Doe, following the dismissal of a lawsuit that accused him of sexual assault. Court documents from Alabama reveal that the rapper is pursuing claims of malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy against all three defendants, along with a defamation claim specifically against Jane Doe.
Filed on March 3, Jay-Z’s lawsuit argues that the original allegations were deliberately false and designed to cause maximum harm. The initial case, brought forward on October 20, 2024, accused both Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. However, attorneys Buzbee and Antigone Curis withdrew the suit on February 14.
According to Jay-Z’s new filing, the accusations were part of a calculated attempt to extort him. The lawsuit states that Jane Doe admitted to his representatives that he had not assaulted her, and that Buzbee allegedly pressured her into advancing the false claims to secure a financial settlement.
\The rapper is now seeking damages, asserting that the defendants’ actions constituted defamation and an intentional effort to harm his reputation. Jay-Z’s filing emphasizes his commitment to holding those responsible accountable for what he describes as knowingly false allegations.
