Jason Kelce is remembering the late Nick Mangold with deep admiration.
On the Oct. 29 episode of New Heights, the former Philadelphia Eagles star praised the retired New York Jets center, who died Oct. 25 at age 41 from complications related to kidney disease.
“You want to talk about the best offensive lineman to ever play the game,” Kelce said. “People tell me I’m the best center ever, but Nick Mangold at his peak was 10 times the player I was. He was phenomenal.”
Mangold, drafted 29th overall in 2006, played 171 games for the Jets and earned seven Pro Bowl selections before retiring in 2016. Kelce called him “a stud in every fashion,” mourning his loss as “a travesty” for his family and the football community.
Following his passing, Jets Chairman Woody Johnson remembered Mangold as “the heartbeat of our offensive line for a decade” and a beloved teammate whose leadership and warmth defined an era of Jets football.
