Rapper Drake is being sued by Ghanaian musician Obrafour for using his song’s sample without his consent. In the 2022 song “Calling My Name” from Drake’s “Honestly, Nevermind” album, Obrafour’s “Oye Ohene” remix was sampled.
The Ghanaian superstar claims that Drake had previously requested permission, which was denied, but the rapper still went ahead with the sampling.
Drake’s usage of the song was illegal, according to Obrafour’s attorney Imran Ansari, who also claimed that the Ghanaian musician is the rightful owner of the copyright in both Ghana and the United States.
The Ghanaian asked the court for a payment of damages not less than $10,000,000.
