The Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for “concerted efforts” to tackle the menace of DRUG ABUSE, highlighting its detrimental effects on individuals, families, and the society at large.

Represented by Wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, at a Sensitization Programme for Governors Spouses in Abuja yesterday, Sen. Tinubu underscored their crucial role in combating drug abuse through advocacy and facilitating access to rehabilitation services – for those grappling with addiction.

In his address, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen Buba Marwa (rtd), expressed concern over the insufficient number of functional state drug control offices in states. He noted that only 10 states have operational State drug control committees, while harping on the urgent need to strengthen structures for effective drug abuse management.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, had also called on stakeholders to champion such policies and programs.
