President Bola Tinubu has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, to lead a Federal Government delegation to Jigawa in response to Tuesday night inferno in Majia town, to assess the situation and visit injured persons in the hospital.
The President, who further directed that emergency aid, including medical supplies and food, be extended to the 50 victims receiving treatment and others affected by the fire, noted that those found responsible for breaches of safety standards will be held accountable, while government would ensure such incidents do not reoccur.
The Nigerian Senate which also expressed shock over the deaths, after a debate on a motion sponsored by the Senator representing Jigawa North, Babangida Hussein, urged the National Orientation Agency to carry out adequate sensitization on the dangers of scooping fuel from fallen trucks.
