Actor Eddie Murphy shared on The Jennifer Hudson Show that his son Eric recently married Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of fellow comedian and actor Martin Lawrence. The couple opted for a low-key church wedding, skipping the elaborate ceremony that had been in the works.
“They had plans for a big wedding, but ultimately decided to do something small and personal,” Eddie, 64, explained, noting that the ceremony took place about two weeks ago with only the couple and a minister present.
With a laugh, Murphy joked that Martin Lawrence was now off the hook financially, quipping, “He doesn’t have to pay for a big wedding now. We’re officially in-laws.”
While there was no traditional wedding celebration, Eddie mentioned that a larger event might be planned in the future. “They just wanted something quiet for now. Maybe we’ll throw a big party later,” he added.
When asked by Jennifer Hudson if he’d perform at a potential future celebration, Murphy laughed and said, “No, I’m not singing. Martin can sing — that’d be hilarious.” He later teased he might consider a duet.
