Saudi Arabian authorities have confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, which signals the beginning of the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.
The Day of Arafah, which marks the peak of Hajj, will fall on June 5, while Eid-el-Kabir will be observed on June 6.
The announcement was made by the Kingdom’s Supreme Court.
Dhul Hijjah is the month in which Muslims worldwide journey to Makkah to perform hajj, which is the fifth pillar of Islam.
