The Nigerian female basketball team, D’Tigress, made history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by qualifying for the last 8, claiming a 79-70 victory over Canada.

That feat made them the first ever African team (men or women) to play in the quarter-final of an Olympic game.

In a statement released following the historic win, President Bola Tinubu congratulated the D’Tigress and commended the team for their uncommon demonstration of resilience, teamwork, and diligence.

The President enjoined the brave Tigress not to rest on their oars until the final victory is won and assured them and the entire Nigerian contingent at the 2024 Olympics of his support as they fly the nation’s flag at the global sports event.
