Bobby Caldwell, the singer, tragically departed away after years of battling health issues, according to his wife Mary Caldwell. He was 71. The bad news was announced by Mary on social media.
“Bobby passed away here at home,” she wrote. “I held him tight in my arms as he left us. I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years. He had been ‘FLOXED,’ it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love.” -Mary Caldwell.
“What You Won’t Do For Love” is one of Bobby Caldwell’s most well-known classics. Particularly in Hip Hop and R&B, the song has been sampled numerous times. The track was famously sampled in Tupac Shakur’s “Do For Love” and by Aaliyah in “Age Ain’t Nothin’ But a Number.” The song continues to be a favorite of Caldwell’s, and other singers including Snoh Aalegra and Boyz 2 Men also contributed covers.
