Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is making her acting debut in Hollywood with a lead role in Children of Blood and Bone, the upcoming film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel.
The Mavin Records singer joins a star-studded cast including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Cynthia Erivo in the highly anticipated project rooted in West African mythology.
Speaking in a recent interview, Ayra Starr revealed the shift from music to acting has been both challenging and exciting, describing it as a completely different experience from being a singer.
Despite being shy about acting, Ayra said the opportunity helped her break through personal fears, adding that being on set gave her a new appreciation for the craft.
Her big-screen debut comes as she continues to rise musically, with a Grammy nomination and an upcoming tour with Coldplay.
