Nigerian pop star Ayra Starr and NBA champion Kawhi Leonard have joined the star-studded lineup for the 2025 Giants of Africa Festival, set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda from July 26 to August 2.
The week-long event will unite 320 young athletes from 20 African countries and draw over 20,000 attendees for a celebration of basketball, culture, education, and entertainment.
Ayra Starr is set to headline the closing concert on August 2, alongside Afrobeats stars Kizz Daniel and Timaya. Rwandan singer Alyn Sano will perform at the inaugural Threads of Africa Fashion Show on July 31.
The festival kicks off with a high-energy opening concert on July 27 featuring South African DJ Uncle Waffles, MTV VMA-winning choreographer Sherrie Silver, and Rwandan artists Kevin Kade, Ruti Joël, Boukuru, and Chriss Easy.
Kawhi Leonard will mentor youth campers, open a new basketball court at St. Ignatius School, and lead a clinic for 50 local youth at Club Rafiki in one of Kigali’s underserved areas.
Other high-profile guests include Robin Roberts, Chiney Ogwumike, Didier Drogba, Michael Blackson, and Boris Kodjoe.
Founded by Masai Ujiri, Giants of Africa is a non-profit empowering African youth through basketball. Ujiri recently discussed the festival’s mission of community-building and transformation on The Kelly Clarkson Show and Good Morning America.
