Amaarae has plenty to celebrate. Since releasing her critically acclaimed sophomore album Fountain Baby in 2023, the Ghanaian-American artist has hit major milestones — including becoming the first Ghanaian to perform a solo set at Coachella.
“It was an honor to carry both my family name and my country’s flag,” says Amaarae (born Ama Serwah Genfi), reflecting on her groundbreaking performance. Her mother, also her manager, and her entire family were there to witness it.

She recently performed at the 2025 Governors Ball in New York, a special homecoming for the Bronx-born artist who grew up between Ghana and Atlanta. “It’s beautiful to come back and see a bigger crowd. I’m repping BX all the way,” she shared.
Fountain Baby received widespread praise, even topping Metacritic’s Best Albums of the Year list — a moment that left her stunned.
Now, she’s entering a new chapter with her next project, Black Star. “I’ve got a new single dropping soon called ‘Slut Me Out,’” she teases. “The new music is sexy, fun, and dance-heavy. I’m truly excited to release an album for the first time.”
