Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju), the latest Yoruba epic film to hit Nigerian cinemas, has grossed ₦101.2 million after five days

The film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, made the announcement on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

“On this one, Nigerians are not going to play. We appreciate your faith in every film we release,” the studio stated.

Beast of Two Worlds also made an amazing ₦63.2 million during its first weekend of sales, according to figures released on Thursday by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN). This year’s biggest opening weekend record for a Nollywood film released is this one. Incredibly, the epic outperformed the Hollywood production Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which had a weekend gross of ₦49.3 million despite its simultaneous premiere.

The CEAN, which formally compiles data for films playing in Nigerian theatres, has not yet made data available regarding the first-week gross success of the movie.

Beast of Two Worlds is a collaboration between Anthill Studios and Nollywood actress, Eniola Ajao, who’s a first-time producer.

The film follows the story of a king who faces banishment from his home unless he produces a male heir, and his desperation leads him to take a new wife, inviting chaos into his kingdom.

Adebayo Tijani and Odunlade Adekola, who also portrays the king, co-direct the movie. Sola Sobowale, Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Mercy Aigbe, Bimbo Akintola, Fathia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Peju Ogunmola, and Olayode Juliana are among the all-star cast members.

The newest indigenous epic to become a Nollywood smash is Beast of Two Worlds, joining the ranks of Aníkúlápó, King of Thieves, Òrìṣà, and Jagun Jagun.
