The 2025 Africa Movie Academy Awards nominations have been announced, celebrating top films from eight countries.
Burkina Faso’s Katanga: Dance of the Scorpions leads with 10 nominations, followed by Nigeria’s Lisabi: The Uprising with seven, highlighting West Africa’s cinematic strength.
The virtual ceremony was hosted by actors Lilian Aluko, Emeka Ossai, Charles Inojie, and Adaora Anyanwu.
Other standout nominees include Uganda’s Small Gods, South Africa’s The Heart is a Muscle, Ethiopia’s For Love, For Land, For Power, and Ghana’s Last Stop.
The awards span 26 categories, honoring storytelling, performance, and technical excellence in African film.
